Touchdown!

This cake was for my second son's 1st birthday.  The football was carved from a chocolate cake and covered with chocolate fondant.

The details were made with both white fondant and white buttercream.

The small cake with the mini-football on it was for my son to tear into.  His first move was to remove and eat the football!

It's a bird. No, it's a Plane....Cake!

This cake was for my son's 3rd birthday.  He LOVES airplanes!
(His favorite feature of this cake was the fact that he got to keep the plane to play with)

Knocking it out of the Park!

This cake was for my son's 1st birthday.  The baseball was for everyone to share, but the small cake below was for him to tear into.

(Our 1st birthday tradition is to let the birthday boy have a small cake all to himself to tear into and just make a mess!  He was a bit timid at first, but then made the very wise discovery that cake is GOOD!)

Monster Truck!!!

This cake was created for my son's 2nd birthday. He loves to play with trucks, and he has a big, blue monster truck that we used as our model for this cake.

The cake itself is chocolate with chocolate frosting between the layers. This was a 4-layer cake that we carved. The frosting is basic buttercream. The tires are donuts that were fixed into the wheel wells. The "dirt" is a combination of crushed honey & chocolate graham crackers.

My favorite features on this cake are the license plates. The front plate gives my son's age, and the back plate has his name on it.

All Aboard!!!

My son got very excited when he saw the picture of this cake! He, like most little boys, LOVES trains! This 3-D train cake is decorated with buttercream icing.
